The Cairo Opera House, under the supervision of Dr. Lamiaa Zayed, is organizing a cultural salon titled "Celebrating World Philosophy Day: Our Philosophy in the Post-Colonial Era” at the Alexandria Opera House “Sayed Darwish Theatre” on Monday, 11 November 2024 at 7 p.m.
The Salon is moderated by Dr. Mohamoud El Keay and hosts Dr. Yomna El Kholy, Professor of Philosophy of Science and Methodology.
The World Philosophy Day was declared by UNESCO and is celebrated every third Thursday of November. It highlights the value of philosophy as a fundamental value for the development of human thought, enabling us to give meaning to life through our questions about things. The first celebration took place in 2002.
During the celebration of World Philosophy Day each year, UNESCO emphasizes the enduring value of philosophy for the development of human thought, for every culture and every individual, in a way that enables giving meaning to life and work in the international context.
