Alexandria Opera House Cultural Salon Celebrates the Centenary of Sayed Darwish

As a part of the celebrations of the Cairo Opera House of the centenary of the renowned composer, Sayed Darwish, under the supervision of Dr. Khaled Dagher. Chairman of the Board, the Alexandria Cultural Salon is going to hold a cultural evening hosting Dr. Waleed Shosha (Professor of Music Criticism & Dean of the Higher Institute for Art Criticism), Mohamed Gomaa, Ahmed Gamal (Singer) & Dr. Mohamed Hosni (Professor of Vocal Performance at the Faculty of Specific Education & Professor Lyric Theatre at the Faculty of Arts) at Alexandria Opera House “Sayed Darwish Theatre” on Tuesday, 19 September 2023 at 7 p.m.
The Cultural Salon is led by Lekaa Swidan under the supervision of Mr. Amin El-Sirafy and will include a musical performance conducted by Maestro Sherif Yasser.
The discussion will revolve around the life and influence of Sayed Darwish (1892-1923) who is considered a pioneer in music and a catalyst for the musical renaissance in Egypt and the Arab world. He composed and sang numerous works that have become part of the Egyptian artistic heritage, revolutionizing the music scene in the early 20th century.
