Ammar El Sherei’s Works at the Cairo Opera House

The Cairo Opera House, under the supervision of Dr. Lamiaa Zayed, is organizing a concert featuring works by the late Egyptian composer, Ammar El Sherei, at the Main Hall on Monday, 20 May, at 8:30 p.m.
Conducted by Maestro Tamer Ghoneim, Ammar El Sherei’s works are performed by: Mohamed El Helw, Ali El Haggar, Amira Ahmed, Noha Hafez, Mohamed Hassan, Hanan Essam, Angham Moustafa, Rahab Omar, and Nesma Abdel Aziz on marimba. The concert’s program includes the masterpieces of Ammar El Sherei as well as theme songs from famous TV series.
Ammar El Sherei was born on 16 April 1948, in Egypt. He obtained a B.A. in English language and studied music composition at Hadley School for the Blind in the United States. He also joined the Royal Academy of Music in Britain after mastering piano, accordion, oud, and organ. El Sherei began his professional career as an accordion player before switching to the organ, then to composing music. He composed more than 150 compositions, composing music for numerous films, TV series and radio programs. El Sherei received numerous honors and awards. He died on 7 December 2012.
