Cairo Opera House Celebrates Birth Anniversary of Umm Kulthum

Within the program of honoring the legacy of iconic figures in classical Arab music, the Cairo Opera House, under the supervision of Dr. Lamiaa Zayed, celebrates the birth anniversary of Umm Kulthum with a concert by the National Arab Music Ensemble at the Main Hall on Thursday, 5 December 2024 at 8 p.m.
Conducted by Maestro Mostafa Helmly, the concert aims to feature the vast musical heritage of Umm Kulthum, introducing history of the Arab music icons to new generations. The concert’s program includes a selection of Umm Kulthum’s masterpieces, performed by Hend El Nahas, Inas Ezz Eldin, Ghada Adam, Manar Samir, and Iman Abdel Ghani, and Ehab Sobhy.
The Cairo Opera House established the National Arab Music Ensemble in 1989. The main objective of the Ensemble was to revive the masterpieces of Arab musical heritage, through collecting the musical heritage of the different Arab nations and representing it in an academic context, the Ensemble occupies a unique position in the Arab music scene.
