Cairo Opera House Commemorates Farid Al Atrash’s Death Anniversary at Damanhour

The Cairo Opera House, under the supervision of Dr. Lamiaa Zayed, commemorates the death anniversary of the legendary composer Farid Al Atrash at Damanhour Opera House on Friday, 20 December 2024, at 8 p.m.
The concert’s program features a selection of Farid Al Atrash’s works performed by Wael Aboul Fotouh, Yomna Hassan, Heba Ismail, and Kareem Zidan
Farid Al Atrash, known as the “King of Oud”, is one of the greatest singers and composers in the Arab world. He is a descendant of Al Atrash family, one of the ancient families in the Druze Mountain in southern Syria, which played a significant role in resisting the French colonization of Syria. His artistic career began when he moved to Cairo with his mother, Princess Alia Al Munther, and his siblings Fouad and Asmahan. He starred in 31 films and worked with prominent Arab poets while composing for numerous great Egyptian and Arab singers.
Farid Al Atrash passed away on 26 December 1974, at the age of 64, leaving behind an enduring legacy that continues to enrich the artistic scene in Egypt and the Arab world.
