Cairo Opera House Starts Christmas Celebrations

Famous International Christmas Songs at Main Hall

The Cairo Opera House, under the supervision of Dr. Khaled Dagher, starts its Christmas celebrations with a concert by the Cairo Opera Company at the Main Hall on 14 December at 8 p.m. The evening is accompanied by the prestigious Cairo Opera Orchestra, under the baton of Maestro Ahmed Farag, and the Cairo Opera Choir with vocal training by Mina Hanna and Greig Martin.
The concert program includes a vast variety of world’s most famous Christmas songs such as “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas”, “White Christmas”, “Angels We Have Heard on High”, “Panis Angelieus”, “Ave Maria”, “I’ll Be Home for Christmas”, “O Holy Night”, “Alleluia”, “The Glow Worm”, “It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year”, “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree” and “Feliz Navidad” performed by Tahia Shams El Din, Reda El Wakil, Mona Rafla, Rasha Talaat, Jolie Faizy, Amina Khairat, Jacqueline Rafik, Ezzat Ghanem, Amr Medhat, Nouresta El Marghany, Laila Ibrahim, and Moustafa Medhat.
The Cairo Opera Company was officially founded in 1964 and has a vast repertoire
that includes more than 32 opera productions. Members of the Company performed
notable roles at the most prestigious venues worldwide. Through years of dedication
and diligence, the Cairo Opera Company succeeded in amassing a fan base of opera
enthusiasts and music lovers.
On the other hand, the Cairo Opera Orchestra, founded in 1994, plays a major role in
Egypt’s classical music scene. Established to accompany the different companies of
the Cairo Opera House (mainly the Cairo Opera Ballet Company and the Cairo Opera
Company) in their performances, the Orchestra’s repertoire includes a vast number of
celebrated classical ballets, famous operas and gala concerts. Since season 2011-2012, Maestro Nayer Nagui is Principal Conductor and Artistic Director of the Cairo
Opera Orchestra.
