Cairo Symphony Orchestra Evokes the Magic of “One Thousand and One Nights”
24 January 2024
Under the title “One Thousand and One Nights”, the Cairo Opera House, under the supervision of Dr. Khaled Dagher, hosts a concert by the Cairo Symphony Orchestra at the Main Hall on Saturday, 27 January 2024 at 8 p.m.
Under the baton of Maestro Ahmed Al Saedi, Messiaen’s “Les Offrandes Oubliées”, Dvořák’s Violin Concerto and Orchestra (with the participation of violinist Rana Abdel Wahab), and Korsakov’s “Scheherazade” Suite are performed by the CSO.
The “Scheherazade” Suite, one of the greatest musical creations of the Russian composer Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov, was written in 1888. Inspired by the tales of One Thousand and One Nights, the Suite is divided into four movements: The Sea and Sinbad’s Ship, The Story of the Kalendar Prince, The Young Prince and the Young Princess, and Festival at Baghdad.
