Celebrating the National Day of Beheira Governorate at Damanhour Opera House Cultural Salon

The Cairo Opera House, under the supervision of Dr. Lamiaa Zayed, organizes a Cultural Salon celebrating the National Day of Beheira Governorate, at Damanhour Opera House on Monday, 9 September 2024 at 7 p.m.
Moderated by writer Kamel Moustafa Rahouma, the Salon hosts the renowned writer Youssef Al Qaeed.
Youssef Al Qaeed was born in Beheira Governorate in April, 1944. He graduated from the National Institute of Teaching and joined the Armed Forces in 1965, participated in the great 1973’s October War.
Following that, he began his career in journalism working as a literary editor for Al Musawar magazine under Dar Al-Hilal until becoming deputy editor-in-chief in 2000.
Youssef Al Qaeed is known for portraying the Egyptian rural environment and its related issues and traditions. He is considered one of the pioneers in novel writing after Naguib Mahfouz. Al Qaeed has numerous works, including novels, short stories, essays, and travelogues, and some of his works have been adapted into films, television series, and radio dramas.
In 2008, he received the State Appreciation Award in Literature, and his novel “War in the Land of Egypt” was ranked fourth among the top 100 Arab novels. He was recently honored at the 32nd International Citadel Festival for Music and Singing for his significant cultural contributions
