Celebrating World Music Day Hany Shenouda & El Masryeen Band Accompanied with Alexandria Opera Strings Orchestra

As part of the World Music Day celebrations, the Cairo Opera House, under the supervision of Dr. Lamiaa Zayed, is organizing a concert by the Alexandria Opera Strings Orchestra, under the baton if Maestro Mahmoud Bayoumi, and the great musician Hany Shenouda & El Masryeen Band at Alexandria Opera House “Sayed Darwish Theatre” on Friday, 21 June 2024 at 8:30 p.m. The concert’s program includes a selection of Hany Shenouda’s most famous compositions.

Hany Shenouda is an Egyptian composer and music arranger who discovered many Egyptian vocal talents. He formed El Masryeen Band (The Egyptians), one of the earliest ensembles in Egypt, in 1977. Shenouda composed many successful tracks which exceeded till now 900 tracks.

The Alexandria Opera House String Orchestra was officially founded by Dr. Nevine El Mahmoudy and gave many successful concerts throughout Egypt. Noteworthy, the Orchestra participated in several national and international festivals which were held within the framework of the cultural cooperation between Egypt and countries all over the world.

The World Music Day came as a result of an initiative launched by the French Ministry of Culture on 21 June 1982 under the slogan “Play Music on Music Day,” attracting thousands of professional and amateur musicians. The Francophone and Mediterranean countries were the first to participate in it, and it quickly turned into a global celebration.
