"Delight of the Soul" Celebrates Samiha Ayoub at Cairo Opera House

The Cairo Opera House, under the supervision of Dr. Lamiaa Zayed, continues the "Delight of the Soul" series by organizing an evening titled "The Lady of the Arab Theatre and the Lady of Hearts" in honor of the prominent Egyptian artist, Samiha Ayoub at the Small Hall on Wednesday, 5 June 2024 at 7 p.m.
The event is prepared and moderated by poet Mohamed Bahgat and is attended by a number of prominent theatre stars and critics.
During the evening, Dr. Lamiaa Zayed, Chairman of the Cairo Opera House, presents an honorary shield to Samiha Ayoub in recognition of her distinguished artistic career.
Samiha Ayoub is an Egyptian actress known for her work on stage, in cinema and on television. She was born in 1932 and began her artistic career at the age of 15 by participating in the movie "The Vagabond" (1947). She graduated from the Higher Institute of Dramatic Arts in 1953, where she was taught by the playwright Zaki Tulaimat.
From 1972 to 1975, Ayoub managed The Modern Theatre, and from 1975 to 1985, she was the director of The Egyptian National Theatre.
Throughout her artistic career, she participated in approximately 170 plays, in addition to several movies and TV dramas. She was honored by President Gamal Abdel Nasser, President Anwar Sadat, Syrian President Hafez El Assad, and French President Valéry d'Estaing. In 2015, she received the Nile Award in the Arts, and in the same year, the large hall at The Egyptian National Theatre was named after her, in honour of her outstanding career in cinema and theatre, and her contributions to the theatrical arts in Egypt.
