“Don Quixote” Ballet by Moscow Classical Ballet at the Main Hall & Alexandria Opera House “Sayed Darwish” Theatre

The Cairo Opera House, under the supervision of Dr. Lamiaa Zayed, in collaboration with the Russian Embassy in Egypt, presents “Don Quixote” Ballet performed by the Moscow Classical Ballet (Russia) as part of “Days of Moscow in Egypt”.
Performances are as follows: Two concerts are held at the Main Hall in Cairo on Sunday, 24 November 2024 at 12 p.m. and 8 p.m.; and a concerts at Alexandria Opera House “Sayed Darwish Theatre” on Monday, 25 November 2024 at 8 p.m.
The ballet is choreographed by Marius Petipa, Alexander Gorsky, Natalia Kasatkina, and Vladimir Vasilev; with costumes designed by Elizaveta Dvorkina; and music composed by Ludwig Minkus.
The Moscow Classical Ballet has presented innovative versions of the greatest classical works, clarifying storylines and characters while avoiding slow or repetitive scenes, thereby reducing the time of performances.
For instance, Sleeping Beauty was presented with a different artistic vision during the Cannes Film Festival.
Natalia Kasatkina and Vladimir Vasilev - the two artistic directors of the company - have created a special theater with a unique character, reflecting the superiority of their company, which performs in prestigious venues such as the Bolshoi, Mariinsky, and Kremlin Palace. They are known for their artistic creativity, collaborating with international choreographers’ and maintaining a repertoire of 28 classical and new classical ballets. The companyhas won numerous global awards and includes prominent ballet dancers, choreographers, and scenographers.
The performances feature elite international competition winners and celebrated artists, including Vladimir Vasilev, head of the State Classical Ballet Theater and People’s Artist (1995), Natalia Kasatkina, a Russian ballet dancer, choreographer, and soloist at the Bolshoi Theater (1954-1976), People’s Artist (1984), among others. The company continues to discover and nurture new ballet stars.
