Heritage Arab Music Ensemble Commemorates Fayza Ahmed’s Birth Anniversary

Under the supervision of Dr. Khaled Dagher, the Cairo Opera House continues its tradition of celebrating icons of music and singing in the Arab world. In this regard, the Heritage Arab Music Ensemble presents a concert commemorating the birth anniversary of Fayza Ahmed at the Gomhouria Theatre on 3 December 2023 at 8 p.m.
Under the baton of Maestro Mohamed Al Mogy, the first part of the concert program features selections of the late singer’s most-celebrated songs. The second part includes a group of famous masterpieces sung by Angham Moustafa, Radwa Saeed, Ganan Essam, Noha Hafe, Mohie Salah, Ahmed Sabry, Mazen Draz, and Ahmed Mohsen.
Fayza Ahmed - often referred to as “Nightingale of the East” - is one of the most iconic figures in Arab singing. Born in Sidon, Lebanon in 1934, she embarked on her artistic journey at the age of 11. Throughout her career, Fayza Ahmed cooperated with various renowned artists and composers, gaining widespread fame in the Arab music scene.
Her partnership with the late Mohammed Al Mogi is considered a significant turning point in her artistic career, creating songs that have achieved widespread recognition. Fayza Ahmed’s musical legacy includes collaborations with renowned composers such as Kamal El-Tawil, Mahmoud El-Sherif, Mohamed Abdel Wahab, Mohamed Soltan, and Riyad El Sonbaty. However, her association with Baligh Hamdi, who composed several songs for her, is considered a turning point in her career.
Fayza Ahmed also ventured in the world of cinema starring in 6 Egyptian movies. She passed away on the 24th of September 1983.
