“Musical Moment”, a Concert Dedicated to the Memory of Dr. Samira Michel at the Cairo Opera House

The Cairo Opera House, under the supervision of Dr. Lamiaa Zayed, host a concert titled “Musical Moment” dedicated to the memory of the late artist Dr. Samira Michel. The concert features violinist Yasmin Samy, cellist Mohamed Ahmed, and harpist Mona Wassef and is held at the Small Hall on Sunday, 3 November 2024 at 8 p.m. The concert’s program includes a selection of international compositions, such as “The Legend” – a trio for harp, violin, and cello by Karl Zimermann; “Melody” for violin and harp by Pyotr Tchaikovsky; “The Spring” and “Serenade” for harp solo by Alphonse Hasselmans; “Meditations” for cello and harp by Jules Massenet; “Passacaglia” for violin and cello by Handel-Halvorsen; “Nocturne” for violin and harp by Frédéric Chopin; Five Pieces for violin, cello, and harp by Dmitri Shostakovich; and Medley for violin, cello, and harp by Ennio Morricone (arranged by Sami Ibrahim). The late Dr. Samira Michel was a professor of harp and a teacher at the Cairo Conservatoire, as well as one of the founding members of the Higher Institute of Music. She composed several pieces for prominent artists of her time. Michel was honored by the former Minister of Culture in 2022 at the annual celebration of the Higher Institute of Music at the Cairo Opera House.
