“One Thousand and one Nights” Ballet in Cairo and Alexandria

The audience of the Cairo Opera House embarks on an enchanting and magical journey with the timeless tales of “One Thousand and one Nights”. Presented by the Cairo Opera Ballet Company and accompanied by the Cairo Opera Orchestra, under the baton of Maestro Nader Abbassi, the ballet performances are held at the Main Hall on: 29, 30 and 31 October 2024 at 8:30 p.m.; 5 and 6 November 2024 at 11:30 a.m.; and at the Alexandria Opera House “Sayed Darwish Theatre” on 14 and 15 November 2024 at 8 p.m.
Composed by Fikret Amirov and choreographed by Naila Nazirova, the synopsis of the Ballet is based on the legendary tales of “Arabian Nights”. To delay her execution, Scheherazade spins a web of fantastic tales, leaving King Shahriar, who is maddened by the discovery of his wife's unfaithfulness, in suspense and accordingly prolonging her life.
The Cairo Opera Ballet Company was established in 1966 and was affiliated to the Higher Institute of Ballet (Academy of Arts). During that time, members of the Company were coached by Soviet experts.
In 1991, the Company was integrated into the National Cultural Center directed by Dr. Abdel Moneim Kamel. It regularly performs abroad in Mexico, France, England, Ireland, Korea, Austria, USA, China, Czech Republic, Italy, Turkey, Lebanon, Jordan, Canada, Russia and Mauritius Island.
