Opera Arts Club Draws Inspiration from Human Heritage at Damanhour Opera House

The Cairo Opera House, under the supervision of Dr. Lamiaa Zayed, is organizing a cultural and intellectual event - Opera Arts Club - titled “Human Heritage and the Egyptian Puppet Art” at Damanhour Opera House on Monday, 27 May 2024 at 11 a.m.
The event includes a discussion on drawing inspiration from traditional popular performance arts in children’s theater, focusing on shadow puppet theatre. Guests of the evening are Dr. Hesham El Ma’dawi, Professor of Sculpture and Dean of the Faculty of Specific Education at Damanhour University; and puppet expert Nasser Abdel Tawab. The event is moderated by Dr. Randa Helmy, Professor of Acting and Directing at Damanhour University, and prepared by Eman Mekkawy. Following the discussion, a film about shadow puppet theatre is screened.
The Opera Arts Club aims to developing an appreciation to all forms of fine arts among the Cairo Opera audience, especially the youth. With the participation of renowned Egyptian artists and intellectuals, a vast variety of topics and artistic issues are discussed.
