Registration for 32nd Arab Music Festival Competition Opens

Dr. Lamiaa Zayed, Chairman of the Cairo Opera House, and Dr. Khaled Dagher, Director of the Arab Music Festival, announced that registration for the Competition of the Festival is now open. The Competition will take place from 11 to 24 October 2024, registration is available through the Cairo Opera House official website: (http://www.cairoopera.org).
Dr. Khaled Dagher stated that new registration mechanisms have been adopted to facilitate the registration process of the participants and that the preliminary phase for selecting qualified participants has begun.
Dagher explained that the Competition includes four categories:
1. Ratiba El Hefny Competition for Arab Singing (Youth): This category is for participants aged 17 to 40. In the first phase, participants are required to perform a song by Sayed Darwish and a song of their choice. The first winner will receive 50,000 EGP, the second winner will receive 45,000 EGP, and the third winner will receive 40,000 EGP.
2. Ratiba El Hefny Competition for Arab Singing (Children): This category is for children aged 6 to 16. Participants in the first phase are required to perform a song by Sayed Darwish and a song of their choice. The first winner will receive 35,000 EGP, the second winner will receive 30,000 EGP, and the third winner will receive 25,000 EGP.
3. Abdo Dagher Competition for Improvisation on Arab Musical Instruments (Qanun, Oud, Violin, Nay, Cello): This category targets musicians aged 18 to 45. Participants are required to present an improvised performance on one of the above-mentioned instruments. The first winner will receive 50,000 EGP, the second winner will receive 45,000 EGP, and the third winner will receive 40,000 EGP.
4. ⁠Orchestral Music Arrangement Competition: Open to all ages. Participants are required to present an orchestral arrangement of a work by Sayed Darwish. The winner of this competition will receive 100,000 EGP.
