Exploring Crossroads of Arab Music: The Influence & Impact of Global Music*

Under the auspices of Dr. Ahmed Hanno, the Egyptian Minister of Culture, the Scientific Committee of the 32nd Festival & Conference of Arab Music announced the research topics that will be covered during the Conference. The 32nd Festival & Conference of Arab Music is going to be held from 11 to 24 October 2024.
Dr. Shereen Badr, Head of the Scientific Committee, identified the following research topics:
1- Cultural Tributaries and the Reality of Arab Music
2- The Contemporary Arab Song … Varied Musical Sources
3- The Impact of Folk Music on Contemporary Arab Music Creativity
4- Arab Music and Western Global Composition … Mutual Influences
A number of new musical experiments consistent with the conference’s tackled issues and perspectives are going to be presented on a daily basis, in addition to presenting some research ideas by young researchers in the form of posters.
The Conference’s Scientific Committee is delighted to invite submission of research papers that tackle the above-mentioned issues and perspectives based on the following regulations and standards:
1- The paper should be original, never published before, closely related to the perspectives of the conference, and had never been presented in any seminar or conference or published in any scientific periodical or internet sites.
2- The paper should not exceed 15 pages on standard A4 size paper, written on Microsoft Office Word, in Simplified Arabic.
3- The paper should include the references and the music notation used by the researcher. It should also be proofread carefully.
4- In the final part of the paper, the researcher should add Arabic and English abstract which clarifies his/her subject in not more than one page (with the same research standards).
5- The paper should be accompanied by a summary of the researcher’s biography in 5 lines maximum.
6- In the paper’s presentation, the researcher is required to include musical examples, audio and visual models related to the topic (in not more than 15 minutes).
7- The paper must be submitted electronically via the following e-mail address (musicfestivaleg@gmail.com) before the 7th of August 2024.
8- The researcher will receive an official invitation from the Cairo Opera House via e-mail from the Cairo Opera House admin
