Saint Petersburg Classical Ballet Company Performs “Swan Lake” in Cairo & Alexandria

In its endeavors to support and enrich cultural and artistic exchange with various countries worldwide, the Cairo Opera House, under the supervision of Dr. Lamiaa Zayed, is hosting Saint Petersburg Classical Ballet Company (Russia). Marking the first international performance in the Cairo Opera House 2024–2025 artistic season, the Company presents the famous classic ballet “Swan Lake” by the world-renowned composer Tchaikovsky, with choreography by Marius Petipa.
The performances are held at the Main Hall on 2, 3, and 4 October 2024 at 8:30 p.m. and at Alexandria Opera House “Sayed Darwish Theatre” on Saturday, 5 October 2024.
Leading roles are performed by Maria Tomilova, a student of the legendary choreographer Yuri Grigorovich, and Alexander Volchkov, principal soloist of the Bolshoi. The performance also features dancers from various countries, reflecting the current trend of artistic collaboration that transcends nationality and race while preserving the classic Russian ballet style, under the direction of Kirill Safin.
Saint Petersburg Classical Ballet Company is currently one of the most successful Russian ballet companies. All its dancers are graduates of the prestigious Vaganova Academy, a hallmark of the company, ensuring the preservation of Russia’s rich ballet traditions that have spanned for decades. The company tours extensively around the world, receiving widespread acclaim from both audiences and critics, particularly for its stunning presentation of” Swan Lake”.
