“Scheherazade in Arabic” at the Small Hall

The Cairo Opera House, under the supervision of Dr. Lamiaa Zayed, is hosting an event titled “Scheherazade in Arabic,” conducted by the maestro and violinist, Mohamed Sharara at the Small Hall on Tuesday, 23 April 2024 at 8 p.m.
With the participation of the two vocalists, Basmala Kamal and Khaled Helmy, the concert’s program includes a selection of famous Arab and Western compositions, including excerpts from Tchaikovsky’s “Serenade for Strings” and Rimsky-Korsakov’s “Scheherazade”, Riyad El Sonbaty’s “Longa Riyad”, Attia Sharara’s “Al Mansoura” and others.
Mohamed Sharara comes from a musical family. He is the grandson of the late composer, Attia Sharara; his father is the cellist, Ashraf Sharara; and his mother is the pianist, Eman Sami. At the age of seven, Sharara started studying violin at the Cairo Conservatoire and in 2005 he obtained his BA with honors. In 2006, he moved to Germany furthering his studies at the Augsburg Musik Hochschule and the Nürnberg Musik Hochschule.
As a soloist, Sharara performed with many highly acclaimed orchestras such as: Bibliotheca Alexandrina Orchestra, Cairo Symphony Orchestra, Cairo Festival Orchestra, Cairo Conservatoire Orchestra, Qatar Philharmonic Orchestra, and Norrköping Symphony Orchestra.
In 2012, Sharara started his conducting career conducting several professional orchestras such as the Cairo Symphony Orchestra, Norrköping Symphony Orchestra and Linköping Symphony Orchestra.
Mohamed Sharara started his composing career in an early age. Some of his pieces were performed in very successful concerts in Egypt, Qatar and Sweden.
