"Spirits in the City" Series Pays Tribute to Cairo's Creatives Across the Ages

In tandem with the endeavors to recognize and celebrate Egyptian creatives across the ages, the Cairo Opera House, under the supervision of Dr. Lamiaa Zayed, hosts for the first time "Spirits in the City" series at the Small Hall on Thursday, 6 June 2024 at 7:30 p.m. Moderated by journalist Mahmoud El Tamimi, the event is part of his cultural project "Cairo is My Address”. The evening marks the annual celebration of the launch of the "Spirits in the City" series and the beginning of the third year of the cultural project. It is attended by inspirational figures and prominent creatives who participated in the "Spirits in the City" events held over 25 evenings from June 2022 to June 2024. 
During the evening, a number of songs and poetry recitation are featured: Dr. Ghada El Absy presents Egyptian heritage songs, accompanied by oud player Dr. Maged Soliman and his ensemble; the talented poet Nour Abdallah recites some of her well-known poems; the renowned chanter Mahmoud Yassin El Tohamy performs religious chants; and Aya El Abnoudy recites several poems written by her father, Abdel Rahman El Abnoudy.
Journalist Mahmoud El-Tamimi, founder of the "Cairo is My Address" project, announced the selection of Entisar Abdel Fattah as "Cairo's Creative of Year 2024." Abdel Fattah is a visionary artist who founded several festivals and public events at the streets and theaters of Cairo.
The "Spirits in the City" series is a project that aims to preserve the national memory of Egyptians. It was launched by the "Cairo is My Address" cultural project two years ago in collaboration with various cultural entities.
