“Spring Again” - A Creative Collaboration Between Egypt and Korea at Cairo Opera House

The Cairo Opera House, under the supervision of Dr. Lamia Zayed, in cooperation with the Artists Network of Egypt (ANE) and the Cultural Affairs and Foreign Relations Sector, is hosting a concert titled “Spring Again: Harmony of Hope” at the Small Hall on Saturday, 11 January 2025 at 8 p.m.
The concert, held to promote cultural exchange between Egypt and Korea, presents a journey through life’s transformations symbolized by the four seasons. This will be achieved through a blend of music, dance, and visual arts, highlighting the unique characteristics of each season:
• Spring, symbolizing growth and renewal, will feature pieces like A Distant Star in the Stillness by David Onac, an excerpt from Walden by David Thoreau, Nocturne by Chopin, First Love by Ho-gun Kim.
• Summer, reflecting vitality and energy, will include Summertime by George Gershwin, excerpts from Anne of Green Gables by Lucy Maud Montgomery, All of Me by Jon Schmidt, and Hungarian Dance by Johannes Brahms.
• Autumn, representing contemplation, will feature an excerpt from the movie About Time, Variations on Arirangby Seong Ki Hong, and A Beautiful Day in October by Ilsang.
• Winter, symbolizing challenges and hardships, will include excerpts from The Chronicles of Narnia, a contemporary dance titled Last Winter Was Bitter, Winter Concerto by Vivaldi, Howl’s Moving Castle by Joe Hisaishi.
• The performance concludes with a return to Spring through an excerpt from the Korean series Light in Your Eyes, Salut d’Amour by Edward Elgar, Flower Duet from the opera Lakmé by Léo Delibes, and The Borders by Yang Bang Ean.
Performers include sopranos Hana Lee and Dalia Farouk, Mustafa Said Attia (clarinet), pianists Grace Yoo, Eon Yeon Song, Greg Martin, and Naghmaya Safwat, JinrySong (guitar), Eugene Hoh (violin), Hehyun Lee, He Yan Lee, Ko Wonju (visual arts), Eunk Son (narration), Karma (choreography and photography), and Karma, Sandra, and Robert (movement performance).
The Artists Network of Egypt, led by Artistic Director Karma Kim and Executive Producer Eunk Son, seeks to revive the values of beauty and human principles through fostering creativity, building meaningful connections through art, and providing a platform for talented artists to develop, collaborate, and deepen intercultural dialogue.
