“The School of Memory” at Small Hall

The Cairo Opera House, under the supervision of Dr. Lamia Zayed, screens “The School of Memory”, directed by Nancy Kamal and produced by the Austrian WOD Foundation at the Small Hall on Wednesday, 25 December 2024, at 7 p.m. The film is followed by a cultural salon moderated by Nabil Farouk (director of the Coptic Antiquities Society Library) and attended by Father Philoxenus El Muharraqi, Father Ishaya El Muharraqi (teacher of hymns at El Muharraq Monastery), Hossam Mahmoud (producer and writer) and Nabil Samir (director of photography).
The film analyzes in depth the story of apprenticeship in receiving church hymns across generations in the Coptic Orthodox Church.
