The Cairo Opera House, under the supervision of Dr. Lamia Zayed, continues its cultural and intellectual activities in collaboration with the National Cinema Center by hosting a Cinema Club at the Damanhour Opera House on Monday, 27 January 2025, at 7 p.m. The club screens two short narrative films (“Joudy” directed by Hany Kassem and “1/2 Veto” directed by Mostafa Haggag) as well as a documentary titled “Small Hearts” directed by Marwa El Sharkawy.
Following the screening, a discussion takes place with the directors of the films, moderated by film critic Ahmed El Nabawy.
The narrative film Joudy focuses on the life of a girl after her parents’ divorce and the conflicts related to child custody.
Meanwhile, the film 1/2 Veto addresses the issue of women’s rights in society, highlighting the challenges and difficulties they face.
The documentary “Small Hearts” explores poetic reflections on the thoughts and questions of a young child about the Gaza war, contemplating the fate and lives of children like him amidst the devastation.
