Three Narrative & Documentary Films at Damanhour Opera House

The Cairo Opera House, under the supervision of Dr. Lamia Zayed, continues its cultural and intellectual activities in collaboration with the National Cinema Center by hosting a Cinema Club at the Damanhour Opera House on Monday, 27 January 2025, at 7 p.m. The club screens two short narrative films (“Joudy” directed by Hany Kassem and “1/2 Veto” directed by Mostafa Haggag) as well as a documentary titled “Small Hearts” directed by Marwa El Sharkawy.
Following the screening, a discussion takes place with the directors of the films, moderated by film critic Ahmed El Nabawy.
The narrative film Joudy focuses on the life of a girl after her parents’ divorce and the conflicts related to child custody.
Meanwhile, the film 1/2 Veto addresses the issue of women’s rights in society, highlighting the challenges and difficulties they face.
The documentary “Small Hearts” explores poetic reflections on the thoughts and questions of a young child about the Gaza war, contemplating the fate and lives of children like him amidst the devastation.
