Cairo Opera Ballet Company Starts its Artistic Season with “Cinderella”

“Cinderella” Ballet marks the beginning of the Cairo Opera Ballet Company’s 2023/24 artistic season. Accompanied with the Cairo Opera Orchestra and conducted by Maestro Nayer Nagui, the performances take place at the Main Hall on 12, 13, 15 and 16 October 2023 at 8:30 p.m.
The Ballet is choreographed by Frederick Ashton and Abdel Moneim Kamel, with set and costume design by Igor Grinevitch and Mohamed El-Gharbawy, and lighting design by Yasser Shaalan.
One of the most famous classical ballets, “Cinderella” was composed by the world-renowned composer Sergei Prokofiev to a libretto by Nikolai Volkov and based on Charles Perrault’s fairytale of the same name. Prokofiev completed the score of the ballet in 1944 and was premiered at the Bolshoi Theatre in 1945.
