Cairo Opera House Commemorates the 50th Anniversary of Umm Kulthum in Paris

Under the patronage of Dr. Ahmed Fouad Hanno, Minister of Culture, the Cairo Opera House, under the supervision of Dr. Lamia Zayed, has accepted an invitation from the Philharmonie de Paris to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the great Egyptian diva Umm Kulthum with a concert held on 2 February 2025.
Dr. Lamia Zayed emphasized that this event affirms Egypt’s cultural and artistic leadership. The concert is going to feature Umm Kulthum’s masterpieces performed by the Arab Music Orchestra and Cairo Opera stars Rehab Omar and Iman Abdel Ghani under the baton of Maestro Alaa Abdel Salam.
According to Philharmonie de Paris reports, all the tickets of the concert were sold out as soon as they were available. Consequently, the theater management has decided to broadcast the event live on its official website.
Umm Kulthum’s illustrious career includes two legendary concerts at the Olympia Théâtre in Paris in November 1967. She donated concert proceeds to support the Egyptian Army. One of the concerts was attended by the late King Hussein of Jordan, who was in Paris, alongside 13 Arab ambassadors, including the representative of the Arab League, and large numbers of Arab expatriates in Europe.
