12 December 2024

Offering a comprehensive cultural and intellectual program, the Cairo Opera House, under the supervision of Dr. Lamiaa Zayed, hosts the concluding session of the “Spirits in the City” series in 2024. This session is presented by journalist Mahmoud El Tamimi, as part of his cultural project “Cairo Is My Address”, at the Small Hall on Thursday, 12 December 2024 at 6 p.m.
The event, titled “A Peasant Passed by Singing”, delves into Egypt’s rural history and cultural heritage, honoring the late filmmaker Shadi Abdel Salam. The session includes the screening of his iconic film “The Eloquent Peasant”, setting the stage for an exploration of Egypt’s rural social, cultural, and artistic landscape. It also highlights traditional folk songs that reflect the unique character of rural Egypt.
"Spirits in the City" series is a project that aims to preserve the national memory of Egyptians. It was launched by the "Cairo is My Address" cultural project two years ago in collaboration with various cultural entities.
