Forsan El Sharq Heritage Company
Forsan El Sharq Heritage Company was founded by the Ministry of Culture in 2009. Walid Aouni, the artistic director of the Company at that time, was inspired by the Egyptian heritage and accordingly portrayed this rich legacy in an artistic and dramatic dance context. Themes and characters of its performances are mainly inspired by the Egyptian heritage and history. Since its founding, the Company took part in various international and regional festivals. In 2019, “Bahia”, one of the Company’s performances, received the award of best performance and best acting from the International Festival of Liberal Theater (Jordon).
Forsan El Sharq Heritage Company was affiliated to the Cairo Opera House. In 2011, Karima Bedir became the artistic director of the Company and in 2014 Tarek Hassan took over the posistion. Currently, Dr. Essam Ezzat is the artistic director of the Company.
