Heritage Arab Music Ensemble
The Heritage Arab Music Ensemble of the Cairo Opera House was founded to revive the Arab music heritage, a purely Egyptian legacy that was produced by a number of great musicians through successive generations. Being an inherent part of our history and culture, all efforts have to be exerted to preserve and protect it.
To pursue this specific objective, the Ensemble presents Arab music heritage in its purest and most refined form. These endeavors are accompanied with a keen attentiveness to the lyrical nature and authentic rhythms of this prestigious heritage. Musicians and singers of the Ensemble are fully committed and devoted to the original musical notation of the works they present.
However, attempts of revision and refinement are made to depict the exact meaning of these works and drive away any boredom that may arise. The Ensemble presents traditional forms and different lyrical as well as musical templates for the Arab music audience like: Al-Muwashshah, Al-Qasida, Al-Dor, Al-Taqtuqa, Al-Monologue, etc.
The members of the Heritage Arab Music Ensemble are selected from the most skilled musicians and distinguished voices of heritage keepers. Notably, the Ensemble performed its first concert at the Arab Music Institute on the 23rd April 2004, which coincided with the opening of the Arab Music Institute after its restoration.
The Ensemble performs concerts on a periodical and regular basis on the different stages of the Cairo Opera House. Noteworthy, famous Arab singers accompanied the Ensemble in its concerts like: Mohamed Tharwat, Ali El Haggar, Nadia Moustafa, Mohamed El Helw, Lotfi Bouchnak, Shadi Jamil, Mohamed Al Gebaly besides others. The Ensemble has also participated in several religious celebrations as “El Mawled El Nabawy Night” performed by Sami Yusuf (Azerbaijan) and Muhammad Kheir (Lebanon).
Artistic tours inside and outside Egypt were made by the Heritage Arab Music Ensemble to continue its distinguished artistic activity and goals under the support of the Cairo Opera House.
