Commemoration of Zakria Ahmed at Arab Music Institute

Part of the cultural and intellectual activities of the Cairo Opera House, a cultural salon commemorating the death anniversary of the eminent composer Zakaria Ahmed is held at the Arab Music Institute on Tuesday, 20 February 2024 at 7 p.m.
The event hosts the late composer’s daughter, Tahaney, along with Dr. Khairy Amer, a professor of Arabic music at the Faculty of Music Education, Dr. Sayed Ali Ismail, a professor at the Department of Arabic Language at Helwan University, and the art critic Mohamed Diab. The evening includes an artistic interlude by the Eastern Takht ensemble
Zakaria Ahmed, known as “Sheikh of Composers”, is an iconic figure in the musical scene in Egypt. He initially composed for musical theater, creating works for renowned groups such as Ali Al Kassar, Naguib El Rihani, Zaki Okasha, and Mounira El Mahdeya, before collaborating with the famous Arab singer Um Kulthum at the beginning of her career.
