“East and West” by Rasha Yehia at Cairo Opera House

Under the title “East and West”, violist Rasha Yehia presents a concert at the Small Hall on Friday, 9 February 2024 at 8 p.m. The concert hosts Amany Ghoneim (cello), Mazen Allam (violin), Moustafa Ibrahim (violin), Abdel Rahman Alwardani (viola), Isabella Berazo (piano) and Amira Ahmed (singer) for an unforgettable evening filled with incredible music. The concert’s program features compositions by prominent Egyptian and Western composers like Gamal Salama, Sayed Darwish, Omar Khairat, Heitor Villa-Lobos, Tomaso Antonio Vitali, etc.
In 2001, Rasha Yehia graduated from the Cairo Conservatoire with a distinction and in 2006; she obtained a B.A. from the Faculty of Arts, Journalism Division, Ain Shams University. In 2013, she received her PhD with honors from the Academy of Arts and the Fellowship of the National Defense College in 2016.
Currently, Rasha Yehia is as Professor at the Academy of Arts and Professor at the Faculty of Music Education, Helwan University. She held the position of viola leader at several orchestras and was assistant viola leader of the Cairo Symphony Orchestra from 2004 to 2015. Since 2009, Rasha Yehia has been member of the European Egyptian Contemporary Music Group. She has won several awards and has toured worldwide extensively.
