
Free Admission to Abdel Wahab Museum For 6 Days

On the occasion of the birth anniversary of the renowned musician Mohamed Abdel Wahab, the Cairo Opera House continues its annual tradition of providing free admission to the Mohamed Abdel Wahab Museum and Musical Instruments Museum at the Arab Music Institute for six days. The two museums are open to public starting from Saturday, 9 March 2024 to Thursday, 14 March 2024 daily from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
The Mohamed Abdel Wahab Museum is dedicated to the prominent Arab composer, singer and actor, Mohamed Abdel Wahab. Halls of the museum showcase some of his personal belongings and valuables, in addition to the medals and awards that were granted to him worldwide. A collection of his rare photos at different stages of his life and career are also displayed at the museum. Movies he starred in are displayed to visitors on special screens and visitors are given access to a complete library of his compositions and songs.
The second museum, the Museum of Musical Instruments, is dedicated to the display of rare musical instruments. Divided into three sections, the first section showcases wind instruments; the second percussion instruments; and the third string instruments. Each instrument is accompanied by an explanatory plaque illustrating its nature. Among these rare instruments are the three-quarter-tone piano, the Japanese Koto, the Indian Sitar, the Santur, and the metal mandolin played by Mohamed Abdel Wahab in the famous movie “Ghazal El Banat”.
Among the many events dedicated to commemorate Mohamed Abdel Wahab’s birth anniversary, the Cairo Opera House holds several Arab music concerts that feature a number of his timeless works including Wahabiat concert series on Saturday, 9 March 2024 at the Arab Music Institute.
