In line with Egypt’s cultural objectives of fostering creative collaboration with various countries worldwide, the Cairo Opera House, under the supervision of Dr. Lamiaa Zayed, in cooperation with the Foreign Cultural Relations, hosts the opening ceremony of the Korean Culture Week at the Main Hall on Sunday, 22 September 2024 at 8 a.m. This event marks the 10th anniversary of the establishment of the Korean Cultural Center in Egypt and is held under the theme K-Sound. The evening features a musical performance by Leenalchi, a Korean music band known for blending traditional Korean Pansori music with modern pop styles.
Alongside the performance, an exhibition titled “Play K-Sound” is held at Ziad Bakir Gallery from Sunday, 22 September until Saturday, 28 September 2024. The exhibition is open daily from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and features 15 informational panels on traditional Korean Gugak music and the popular Korean Arirang folk songs. The exhibition is accompanied by Gugak music, highlighting traditional Korean musical instruments that have been used since ancient times. These instruments fall into three categories: string instruments, wind instruments, and drums. The exhibition also showcases Arirang, a traditional Korean folk song that represents the culture of the Korean people, reflecting the aesthetic flavor of each Korean province.
