“Scheherazade” and “Boléro” on Stage for Two Nights at the Main Hall of the Cairo Opera House

14 May 2026

The Cairo Opera House presented an exceptional artistic experience through the Egyptian Modern Dance Theatre Company, featuring the performance “Scheherazade & Boléro”, designed and directed by its Artistic Director Walid Aouni, accompanied by the Cairo Opera Orchestra conducted by Maestro Mohamed Saad Basha.

The performances were held at the Main Hall  on Thursday and Friday, 14 and 15 May 2026, at 7:30 p.m.

The production brought together two of the 20th century's most iconic musical works: "Sheherazade" by Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov and "Bolero" by Maurice Ravel, crafting a dialogue between Western rhythms and Eastern enchantment.

The event held significant cultural weight, celebrating the 150th anniversary of the birth of French composer Maurice Ravel and the centennial of Maurice Béjart, one of the world's most influential choreographers.
