“100 Years of Singing” Concert Series Continues at Cairo Opera House

As part of Egypt’s ongoing efforts to preserve the Arab music and singing legacy, the Cairo Opera House, under the supervision of Dr. Lamiaa Zayed, is hosting the second concert of “100 Years of Singing” concert series in collaboration with the Egyptian star, Ali El Haggar at the Main Hall on Sunday, 28 April 2024 at 8 p.m.
Dedicated to the journey of the renowned Egyptian composer, Mohammed Fawzy, and with the participation of the two singing stars, Nadia Moustafa and Moustafa Amar, the evening features rare recordings and insights into the artistic journey of this great musician within a dramatic musical context. The production is directed by Essam El Sayed; written by Ayman El Hakim; conducted by Youssef Sadek; acted by Mahmoud El Zayat and Amir Abdel Wahed; while, a selection of Mohamed Fawzy’s famous songs are performed by Suhaila Bahgat, Samir Azmy, and Shimaa Yousry.
The “100 Years of Singing” concert series is a musical and theatrical production that traces the history of Arab music and singing and its development during the 19th and 20th centuries. The series celebrates the most important musicians of that period in a production that combines singing, drama and dance. Undoubtedly, the “100 Years of Singing” concert series reaffirms Egypt’s artistic leadership in the field of music and singing and enlightens younger generations with the rich Arab musical legacy.
