Continuing the Egyptian cultural plan aimed at commemorating icons and symbols of music and singing, the Cairo Opera House, under the supervision of Dr. Lamiaa Zayed, celebrates the musician of the generations, Mohamed Abdel Wahab, during a concert by Abdel Halim Nowera Ensemble for Arab Music conducted by Maestro Ahmed Amer on Thursday, 25April 2024 at 8 p.m. at the Main Hall.
The program includes a selection of compositions by the immortal Nile, which have been an integral part of the Egyptian and Arab society's sentiment, in addition to excerpts from the songs he performed in his movies.
Mohamed Abdel Wahab, born on 13 March 1902, in Cairo, is a renowned figure in Arab music. Known as the “Maestro of Generations”, he excelled as a composer, musician, and cinema actor, starting his artistic journey in 1917. Abdel Wahab collaborated with prominent poets like Ahmed Shawqi and renowned Egyptian and Arab singers, including Umm Kulthum, Leila Mourad, Abdel Halim Hafez, Nagat, Fayza Ahmed, Warda, Fairuz, Asmahan, Talal Maddah. He departed our world on 4 May 1991, after enriching the Arab musical scene with his artistic works, which capture, until today, the hearts of the Egyptian and Arab people.
